PHYSICAL EDUCATION AND ATHLETICS

The Physical Education (PE) and Athletics programs across the district serve thousands of students daily at both middle and high school levels.  Programs are robust, high-participation, and essential to student wellbeing, school culture, and community engagement.

They support not only curricular PE, but also a rapidly growing athletic ecosystem—including competitive teams, before/after-school conditioning, community events, and youth sports rentals.

Physical Education Programs

PE is delivered across all grade levels and encompasses:

  • Fitness conditioning
  • Individual & team sports
  • Skill development and assessments
  • Lifetime fitness activities
  • Cooperative games and physical literacy

Elementary schools attend physical education as a class on a weekly basis.   Middle schools often run 5–6 classes per period, while high schools regularly have 60+ students per class plus athletic PE periods.

High School Athletics Programs

  • Football
  • Volleyball
  • Basketball
  • Soccer
  • Baseball & softball
  • Lacrosse
  • Wrestling (boys & girls)
  • Tennis
  • Track & field
  • Aquatics (swim & water polo)
  • Cheer, dance, and aerobics
  • Band practices that share athletic spaces
  • Growing programs such as girls flag football and color guard (which use fields)

Many programs operate year-round, creating constant demand on indoor and outdoor facilities.
