Buildings shall be designed to allow:
- Lockable zones that separate academic areas from:
- Event spaces
- Gyms
- Libraries
- Multi-purpose rooms
- Fields and joint-use facilities
After-hours users should never have access to classroom wings.
Hallways, Corridors & Supervision
- Corridors shall have clear sight lines and proper lighting.
- Avoid deep alcoves or hidden nooks.
- Install cameras in high-traffic interior spaces such as:
- Main hallways
- Entry corridors
- Libraries
- Gyms
- MPRs and cafeterias
Bathroom Safety
Design bathrooms to reduce unsupervised activity:
- No entry doors; instead use open, no-sightline vestibules
- Sinks located in a visible public zone when feasible
- Provide adequate lighting and durable materials
- Layouts that support frequent staff checks
Infrastructure to support future acoustic event sensors (fights, vandalism)
