Provide daily medical care, emergency response, medication management, and short-term supervision for students with health needs.
Activities
- Medication dispensing (especially diabetic care)
- First aid, triage
- Supervised rest and recovery
- Isolation of sick/infectious students
- Clinical procedures
- Confidential health conversations
- Coordination with parents and medical professionals
Considerations
- Two distinct zones:
- Well-care for daily meds, diabetics, routine visits
- Ill-care for fevers and symptoms requiring isolation
- Multiple cots (2–3 minimum)
- Privacy curtains or private room
- Deep counters for medical supplies and binders
- Secure medication storage
- Sink separated from paperwork areas
- Windows or visibility between RN and health tech
- ADA-compliant restroom with space for cot + Hoyer lift
- Space for washer/dryer if possible
- Nearby office for the RN for confidentiality
