- Audible and visual signals throughout buildings and fields
- Network-integrated systems capable of emergency messaging
PA & Mass Notification
Systems should:
- Reach all interior and exterior areas
- Include outdoor horns or speakers for fields and playgrounds
- Integrate with emergency management software
Backup Power & Generators
Critical systems must remain functional during outages:
- Fire-life safety
- Communication & PA
- Electronic access control
- Network connectivity
- Food refrigeration in kitchens
- Administrative command areas
Backup solutions may include:
- Fixed generators
- Portable generator “pigtail” hookups
- Battery backup systems for smaller sites
Natural Disaster Design
Sites must provide:
- Safe refuge areas
- Structural resilience appropriate to seismic and wildfire risk
- Ability to serve as Red Cross shelters (site-dependent)
- Showers, ADA access, and dedicated power at designated evacuation centers
