The Special Education department is structured to support a diverse spectrum of student requirements, ranging from mild support to intensive interventions. A central pillar of this department is the Foundations Program, which serves students with moderate-to-severe disabilities or intensive needs. Over the past decade, the department has seen a significant trend towards an increased enrollment of students requiring these intensive services. To meet this demand, the department utilizes a multidisciplinary team including Foundations teachers, Occupational Therapists (OT), Physical Therapists (PT), Speech-Language Pathologists (SLP), and school psychologists.

The primary goal of the department’s physical environment is to create spaces that balance academic instruction with medical, sensory, and behavioral support. These spaces are designed not just for accessibility, but for ensuring that students with orthopedic impairments or high-sensory needs have the same quality of educational experience as their peers.
